About
Maurice Hermans is a Dutch artist, researcher, and musician. His work revolves around notions of loss, decline and transition.
He has published independently as well as for established publishers such as nai010, Lit Verlag, and OECD. In 2010 he was awarded the Special Award Demography Price 2010 for his work on shrinking cities. He was commissioned to curate and edit the final publication of the Internationale Bau Austtellung (IBA) Parkstad.
As the co-founder of the Betawerk Online Agency he has won the Dutch Interactive Award, among other awards. Also, he is invited for keynotes by institutions such as iASK Koszeg, OECD, University of Vienna, IFHP, the Dutch consulate in Dusseldorf, Neimed among others. In the past fifteen years he has organised various cultural events.
In 2021, he founded the AUW music collective, performing sessions in AUW an der Kyll (2021), Charleroi (2022) and Konjic (2023).
As of 2023, he serves as the director of Intro in Situ, a workspace for contemporary music in Maastricht.
